- Millennium Health is one of the largest Clinical Urine Drug Testing (UDT) and medication monitoring laboratories in the United States, processing millions of patient specimens each year.
- They also offer genetic testing services, including pharmacogenetic testing.
Challenge
Millennium Health, Inc. needed a new solution to replace their existing Laboratory Information System which was very error-prone and operating beyond capacity. As no off-the-shelf systems fit their unique business needs, they found it most cost effective to create a custom solution.
Solution
Primero developed a web-based Laboratory Information System built specific to their needs. This system covers the entire lifecycle of a specimen and integrates with numerous internal and external systems.
Results
The new system increased specimen capacity (over 100x gain), improved data capture and reporting, minimized errors, and is bringing them closer to their goal of going 100% paperless.

- Thermo Fisher Scientific is the world leader in serving science, with revenues of more than $24 billion and approximately 70,000 employees globally.
Challenge
Thermo Fisher Scientific needed a web-based quality control monitoring application that would electronically capture and analyze data from thousands of laboratory information systems and laboratory analyzers worldwide.
Solution
Primero developed a web-based quality control system to allow the company the ability to abandon their error-prone and inefficient paper-based system.
Results
Thermo Fisher now enjoys improved efficiencies, higher customer satisfaction due to the streamlined operations, immediate reporting and instant peer comparison.

- Midwest Laboratories, Inc. opened its doors for business on May 15, 1975, in Omaha, Nebraska.
- Since then, they’ve expanded into a 14-building campus devoted to performing a wide variety of analyses in a highly-regulated environment, providing the most thorough and customizable data in the industry.
Challenge
Midwest Laboratories operates over a dozen unique labs, each with its own requirements and challenges. Their “LIMS” consists of a patchwork of homegrown systems as there is no off-the-shelf option that can adequately serve their unique needs. This “system” simply can’t keep up with their growing business and changing needs.
Solution
Primero is transforming their entire business by creating a single system that includes a LIMS, ELN, QMS and more, all based on a single source of truth, and fully integrated one to the other.
Results
Although the entirety of the system is still being developed, many interim deliverables such as results review and reporting, have been delivered with instant and tangible benefits including significant time and cost savings.

- Microgenics Corporation develops, manufactures, and markets immunodiagnostic tests for drugs of abuse testing, therapeutic drug monitoring, calibration and linearity verification, and controls.
- A subsidiary of Thermo Fisher, Microgenics Corporation has 6,076 total employees across all its locations and generates $507.59 million in sales (USD).
Challenge
Microgenics Corporation needed a web-based system to allow their customers to enter, process, and report on assay data. This new system would replace and enhance their existing client/server application which was previously developed by Primero Systems in 1999.
Solution
Primero developed a web-based system to assist in the reduction of calibration and verification data from its participating labs worldwide, including comparison data (peer review) when available.
Results
The new system dramatically decreased internal costs related to data entry and reporting due to its self-service nature. It also increased customer satisfaction and retention due to the ability to get on-demand results and reporting.
